Kohaku Tendon 琥珀 @Suntec City

One of my friend, Johan had posted a photo of tendon on FB and claimed that was the best tendon in town, which caught my friend, Kwan's attention; and he was dying to try it. After getting information from Johan, we decided to give it a try.

The restaurant was not easy to be located for me... well, Suntec city is huge and it's just like a maze for me... but good thing is Kwan and Paul are pretty familiar with Suntec city, so they lead the way...

The restaurant was at Eat At Seven, it was quite obvious that it was the only restaurant with long queue, literately we were in the line. We took about 30 minutes to get our seats, it was not too ridiculous.
After we get seated, looked at the menu, it was quite simply; basically everybody are ordering the same thing. Kohaku Tendon.

It was taken too long for the food to arrive, it truly was a catchy eye candy when it placed on my table. The ingredients was fully placed on the bowl, and you can't even see the rice...

The first thing that catch my eye is the giant fried prawn, the crunchy coat fully cover the bouncy fresh prawn, the taste was just right, and the chunky chicken breast meat was juicy and tender, every single bite was a mouthful satisfaction; the tendon also included Calamari, mushroom, long green bean and baby corn, I just simply love every single piece of them, you won't feel greasy at all after finish the entire bowl of tendon.

They also offer the sweet and savory sauce on the table, which goes very well with it. It was a good experience that having this wonderful tendon, I was convinced that it was probably the best tendon in town.

Ikan Bakar Tampin (Barbecue Fish) Johor Bahru 驰名淡边铁板烧鱼

One day, my friend sent me a FB link that introduce JB famous "Ikan Bakar" aka (barbecue fish) just nearby KSL city, we were both just dying to give it a try. “Ikan Bakar” which means barbecue fish or Char-grill fish in Malay, it was one of the famous food found in Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia. However, for Indonesia style "Ikan Bakar" usually serves with sweet soy sauce, but Malaysia and Singapore is using "sambal" (chili paste).
When we arrived there, we had a hard time to find a place to park the car, since it's residential area and it doesn't have much place to park the car and it seem pretty crowded. Well, this place was a landed house, the table and chair was set up at the front yard, the kitchen was at the side corner of the house and it's open concept, it seem very spacious. We found a place to sit, and we realized that we need to choose the seafood from the display table and place order there as well.
We had ordered their sambal noodle, aka stirred fried noodle with chili paste. the noodle seem like normal traditional fried noodle with dark soy sauce, but it's very tasty and slightly burning hot, it's very local style. like it.

They ran out of "sotong"(squid), so we took cray-fish instead. The cray fish was very fresh, the meat was firm and bouncy, it was fully cooked but still remains juicy, and the sambal was going very well with it.
we also order stirred fried bean sprout, it was just normal.

Finally, the stingray, the fish was fresh, it was firm and juicy. let talk about the sauce, the chili paste was kinda different from other Ikan Bakar that I had previously; usually the chili paste mostly taste sweet and spicy and a little bit of sour, some are too sweet, some are too spicy. But this one, my first bite, it was a little bit of bitter 甘苦, but it's not overpower, then the sweetness and spiciness kick in but in a balanced way; my friend would like it spicier, but I think it was just nice. The char-burned chunky fresh fish fully covered with flavorful sambal sauce, every single bite was a mouthful satisfaction. Yummy! The entire meal took us RM80.00+, pricey? maybe it is, but it definitely worth to try.

Han Kee Fish Soup at Amoy Street Food Center

Today I stopped by Amoy Street Food center after finished my meeting early, it was around 11am, the time was still early for lunch but I was heard that a well known fish soup stall at the 2nd floor of the food center is very famous and their queue is very long especially during lunch time that I always curious to try...

After reaching 2nd floor of the food center, I wasn't quite sure which stall is it as there are 2 stalls are selling fish soup over there, I was basing on my own judgement and the crowd to determine which stall that I'm going to try, and I had chosen Han Kee.

Literally, I'm in the line for taking the order and gradually there are more people came and joined the queue, soon I'm convinced that I'm on the right place. I wasn't wait for too long to get my food, and I found a place to sit down to enjoy my fish soup.

At first, the soup looked crystal clear and tasteless for me, but I was wrong, it was flavorful and tasty, the soup taste surprisingly sweet and savory, the chunky slide fish was firm and bouncy, apparently, the fish was very fresh, and the meat taste sweet and salty as well; it was well marinated, The lecture was well supporting to balance the saltiness of the soup; and the sprinkled of deep fried chopped garlic also enchanted the fragrant of the soup, it was so amazing.

After having my fantastic fish soup, the queue was getting longer and ridiculous, it was insane, but I think it was worthy.
